The property industry will be 100% electronic from 1 July 2019.
Property Exchange Australia (PEXA) is currently the only electronic lodgment network approved by the major banks in Australia. It enables its members to perform electronic settlements of real property including the preparation of documents, lodgments, payment of settlement monies, stamp duty and other disbursements.
A timeline has been in place from 2013 by the Office of the Registrar General and since then all refinances and standalone mortgages were required to be lodged electronically from 2017. All standalone property transfers and caveats must now be lodged electronically from 1 July 2018.
